As a visual art educator, I’m asked quite often where do I find inspiration and how do I get motivated to create. For artists of all ages, sometimes looking at that blank sheet of paper or canvas or beginning a new process can be a bit intimidating and daunting. I always encourage slowing down and not rushing to find inspiration or “get inspired”, you’ll only become frustrated from forcing an idea. Keep a small notebook or sketch pad handy throughout your day to jot down ideas and thoughts when the moment strikes, you never know when and how you’ll be inspired!
How will you get inspired? What will inspire you? That’s a very personal question that only you can answer.
How do you get started on the path of inspiration? The possibilities are endless! I was fortunate to have the opportunity to share a few suggestions for sources of inspiration at Akron’s PechaKucha Vol 1, my presentation “Get Inspired” can be viewed via the link below. My hope is that you are able to begin a carefully curated collection of inspiration nuggets that will encourage and motivate your creativity.
Remember : Explore, Experiment, and Play!
